Creating a static IPv6 address

May 9, 2009 | In Development | No Comments

I’ve spent this morning installing Windows Server 2008 on my work server.  Having assigned it a static IPv4 address so I could use it as an AD DS and DNS server, it seems it would really a static IPv6 address too.

I kind of ignored this to start with as I don’t know too much about IPv6, but it seems best practice means I need to deal with it.  Many people are suggesting to just disable the IPv6 support, but this seems a bit short sighted, better to be thorough now and save time later.

So this page enables you to convert from an IPv4 to IPv6 address, just stick in your IPv4 address and hit “IPv6″:
