Thunderbird vs Evolution

Having now been using Thunderbird for the last week or so I think it is far superior to Evolution. One of the more annoying features of Evolution was the loading of images for e-mails. To load any images you needed to go to the menu and click the load images option (I couldn’t find a quicker way, other than the keyboard shortcut). Even then the computer would sit ideally thinking about it, then fail to load the images anyhow.

Thunderbird just loads them, no problem. The junk filters are also much better, and actually work! Which given the amount of spam I receive, is good news.

Moving back to Thunderbird

Having been using Evolution for just over a month now I’ve decided that I want Thunderbird back.

I’m fed up with the error messages about syncing my folders, and the sub-standard junk mail filtering.

To this end I’ve installed Thunderbird for Linux and will now have to copy my mail from Evolution to Thunderbird Linux.  However, this is a little bit easier.  It is a case of a copying the mail files from the Evolution folder in the home directory to the Thunderbird folder in the home directory.  I’ll refer you to this article for the details.
