Phew busy week

I’ve been busy this last week or so. Consequently, I’ve not had a chance to look at the IE 7 beta much, however, what I have seen looks ok.

As a web developer, it is going to be interesting to see how we work with it as it now means another round of tests to make sure our pages look right. I’m also not sure yet exactly how standards compliant it is, I suspect not much, but I’ve not had time to really have a look.

IE7 beta

I’ve just installed the Internet Explorer 7 beta. I was somewhat reluctant to as I’m sceptical of installing new software such as this in case it completely screws up my computer

It seems to be working ok though. Looks wise, it is ok, nothing special though. It’s about time they introduced the tabbed browsing, and they have moved the traditional File menu list, which is an improvement I think. I did have a swear though when it told me to look at something on the File menu. A bit of poor documentation I think.

I’ve always been a Mozilla, and recently Firefox, fan, but I think I shall give it a go and see just how big brother it is going to be.

PHP Fixes

I discovered last thing on Sunday that my hosting company does not support PHP version 5.

Very inconvenient of them.

This means I’ve had to rewrite the PHP diary system using xml_parse, instead of the much simpler and easier XML DOMDocument. I’ve finally found time to do this, and so here it is at last.

The diary system is not as well written as I would like, but this is a quick “hacked” together version, until I can find time to do a better job.
